“MoreySmith’s design of Powell Gilberts new headquarters in a Grade II listed Lutyens building presents an impressive workspace which magnificently reflects the prestige and dynamism of the company values while remaining sensitive to the building’s Arts and Crafts heritage.  The space offers employees and clients an impactful yet welcoming and creative ambience underpinned with cultural references to the Arts and Crafts influence.”

Powell Gilbert is a boutique law firm specialising in intellectual property law.  The brief was to design their new headquarters within this Grade II listed Lutyens building on Fleet St, to reflect Powell Gilbert’s dynamic approach while offering staff a welcoming and creative space in which to work.

Visitors to Powell Gilbert enter through the reception area which features soft lighting and timber flooring made from reclaimed whisky barrels.  The rear wall is made up of bespoke ribbed fabric panels, which refract the light and soften the space.  Five meeting rooms lead off the reception area with discreet breakout spaces in between.  Each room has a high end feel with individual upholstered chairs, soft smoky colours and grey oak veneers teamed with Arts and Crafts wallpaper to feature walls.  Bespoke bookshelves provide a library feel.
The staff breakout space links the client areas to the workspace and is defined by a change in floor finish to exposed metal floor tiles.  Upholstered booth seating is ideal for informal meetings and more relaxed café style seating provides space for staff lunches.
