“MoreySmith’s innovative approach to design took an outdated eight floor late 80s building with separate annexes and simultaneously tackled the building’s main problem; a lack of natural day light.  The resulting workspace, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s European Headquarter, produced a fresh and contemporary interior with a youthful atmosphere.”

Andrew McCann, Creative Director, MoreySmith

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's new European headquarters, an eight-floor outdated late 80s building with a separate annex behind it in Ramillies Place, was taken in hand by MoreySmith to create a fresh, contemporary interior with a youthful atmosphere.

The concept for the project linked the two buildings and covered the external courtyard between to create a dramatic atrium with a café on the ground floor - making connections both functionally and socially. This tackled the building's main problem, a lack of natural light in the deep, narrow floorplate. The vistas from one building to the other across the atrium gives an immediate sense of how MoreySmith achieved drama and dynamism in a difficult space.

Circulation routes remained an integral part of navigating the space and were clearly defined by galvanised ceiling tiles, while working areas received a treatment which stripped the central ceiling section back to expose the concrete soffit giving greater height and concentrated light in the centre of the deep floorplate.
