MoreySmith has designed the extension in response to CBRE’s brief to accommodate 2,000 employees reporting to its central London headquarters. Prioritising wellbeing, collaboration and mobility, the workplace was designed in 2017 – notably pre the Covid pandemic - and due to forward thinking and innovative design, required very little changing in the aftermath of the pandemic. Two light-filled atriums create the heart of the space for social interaction with a café and an exterior courtyard, providing 24/7 collaborative space for employees, clients and partners.
Located off iconic Bond Street, the redesign includes a two-storey retail style façade in keeping with the strong brand of the global property specialist, with a new curved glass front providing a window into the HQ .
The ground-floor reception area features a client lounge with bespoke materials including leather paneling and corrugated concrete finishes. Suspended above the stairwell is a stunning ceramic sculpture by Fernando Casasempere, 2,000 individual pieces of of hand moulded porcelain create an unmissable organic form representative of the unique identity of all 2,000 CBRE people.
On the seventh floor, an open-air terrace offers exceptional views of London alongside a new library space for quiet and focused working converted from the old plant rooms with a pitched roof with northern lights.
Choosing British furniture designers such as Jennifer Newman, Benchmark and James Burleigh, MoreySmith has selected fittings and materials to deliver a premium and carefully curated space for CBRE’s 2,000 employees. Sustainability was at the forefront of our design, the building is BREEAM rated Excellent and is also on track to become the first WELL Platinum Certified landlord & Tenant joint development in the UK and the UK’s largest WELL platinum fully fitted project.
Wellbeing has been prioritised throughout the design with bike storage for 260 +, club quality changing rooms and showers, spinning and personal training studios. The atmosphere has elements of a luxurious private members club where collaboration, innovation and relaxation work seamlessly together.
