When McKinsey and Company decided that the time was right to leave its London home for the last 25 years at 1 Jermyn Street, we were delighted to be appointed to design an exceptional workplace for its 30,000 employees and clients. The design has gone on to win the London category at the BCO Awards 2020 for Workplace Fit Out.

Built and designed to LEED-Gold standard, the space boasts strong eco-friendly credentials. Biophilic principles are central to the design. This extends to workplace planting, an indoor greenhouse at the base of the staircase and terraces on every floor. The locally sourced restaurant food supports better health and wellbeing and McKinsey & Co has nearly eliminated the need for single-use plastic in the building.

Throughout construction, the project strived to minimise the amount of waste taken to landfill – over 98% of the construction waste was diverted. The lighting control system is integrated with the building management system, and meeting rooms have temperature controls which automatically adjust when unoccupied.
