We have the passion, energy and excitement of a start-up, with the experience and professionalism of a team that have worked together for many years. Linda Morey-Burrows
We as MoreySmith define our role in contributing to a sustainable future by striving to create spaces for longevity and reciprocity; being mindful in both learning from the past as well as considering the future generations who will follow.
The word Sustainability is more relevant today than ever before, driven by our increasing awareness of the climate crisis and the understanding that humans are responsible for the overconsumption of natural resources and pollution of the natural environment.
However, this increased awareness is putting the word ‘sustainability’ at risk of becoming an overused buzzword that is too often used haphazardly.
We are renowned for creating inviting spaces where people can thrive and be inspired. Our people-focused approach is supported by design-led and detail-focused thinking, expressing the unique values and identity of a brand and its community through the fabric of the design. This is reflected in a tactile form, considered material and colour choices to create an exceptional design aesthetic, rich in texture and bespoke detail.
We are committed to executing sustainable schemes from the outset of the design process and are passionate about adapting heritage assets. We maximise the best attributes of the existing building stock, adding contemporary interventions to revive and restore them to the modern day. Our new buildings also reflect the historical context of each site and are designed to withstand time, as an integral part of the urban fabric.
We tailor our approach to each client and immerse our team deep within their organisation. Initial stages benefit from detailed analyses, intimate focus groups, interviews and employee surveys, which are highly efficient tools to gain invaluable insight into the sentiment of the workforce. Supporting this, Time & Motion studies provide direct understanding of how people work and interact. Compiling our findings into a detailed report then informs our strategic reviews and design proposals going forward.
We work closely and collaboratively with client leadership teams to encourage positive behavioural and cultural change within organisations. Using a variety of methods appropriate to each company, we prompt communication, engagement and training where necessary to motivate wider teams.
Strategic Building Review
In commercial environments, collating calculative data is crucial to assess the space allocation of key facilities, communal and department specific areas. We provide zoning strategies that consider traffic, circulation, acoustics and access to daylight, as well as contingency, expansion and storage solutions. We collaborate with specialist consultants; environmental, IT/AV, catering and in-house teams to apply our findings and develop a strategy that meets the requirements our client’s built environments.
ART SELECTION & CURATION
Art is an intrinsic part of an inspiring work environment and can be seen as an extension of brand identity, creating a talking piece and showing the personality of a company.
In partnership with ArtSource, we collaborate with world-renowned and upcoming artists for many of our projects, developing relationships with pioneering creative talent. Together, we believe that corporate art should have depth, be challenging and start conversations.
CGI & VR ANIMATION
Our in-house CGI capability provides a unique opportunity to visualise designs in an engaging and realistic way. This can be implemented through static imagery, immersive VR headsets and walk-through web programmes. While often fundamental for design approval, these are also hugely popular for employee engagement and to provide the whole organisation with access to design proposals throughout each stage of the project.
Involving our clients in the furniture procurement process from day one ensures a successful selection for comfort and aesthetic. From initial look and feel proposals and showroom visits, to working local manufacturers and craftsmen who use the latest sustainable materials, we personalise the process, offering pilot schemes and trial periods so that clients can test products in their space.
Our innovative design schemes are underpinned by our latest research to better understand the progression of how people are living and working. Drawing on decades of experience designing workplaces for globally recognised brands, we believe it’s important to reflect and future-gaze as the workspace evolves.
